Soul Rio will offer a free movie night to the community Friday. When: September 7, 2010. Time: 7 p.m. Where: Soul Rio Community Church. At some point teen has to decide: What’s my life going to be about? To Save A Life is a movie that dares to bring that question into the world, encouraging them to answer it with boldness, honesty and compassion. This event is available to all of our community, however, the film is rated PG-13 because it deals directly with some difficult but authentic aspects of todays teen life. On Sunday, August 22 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation will host the Mayor’s Picnic and Sundae is Funday at Loma Colorado Park located at 555 Loma Colorado Drive (adjacent to Rio Rancho High School and the new Aquatic Center). In addition to a car show, ice cream social and salsa contest, there Soul Rio will have a vendor booth. If you would like to help staff the booth or help in any way, please contact Lisa Fuller at 249-1669 or Pam at the office. We need as many people as we can to help out with this event!

Some of you may have driven by on Monday evening and seen multiple fire and rescue vehicles at Southern Plaza. Best Lee’s restaurant, next door to SoulRio, suffered a fire that evening. No one was hurt in the fire, although Best Lee’s will be closed during the month of August for repairs. A minimal amount of water seeped under the wall between their suite and ours, but we wanted to reassure you that there was no damage to SoulRio. Please pray for the owners and staff of Best Lee’s during this difficult time.
